16. Festival Season.

There are a great many festivals in Nepal at this time of year, so we were in luck. 

On the 26th of February they celebrate Rulio. This is when they pay homage to Rulio the God of rules who invented amongst other things, the Nepalese road code.

The code itself is a thin document, more a slogan really, that roughly translates to ‘good luck’ and my travelling companion and I missed it completely, due to the fact Rulio is hardly ever observed by anyone.

I’m fascinated by the traffic in Kathmandu. Wayne Brown would love it, as there’s not an orange cone in sight, proving his point that they have nothing to do with safety.
